About

Mount Montserrat, or the "split" mountain, is a unique landmark of Barcelona, known not only for its unusual appearance but also for the Benedictine monastery that crowns its summit. Notably, it houses the famous statue of the Virgin Mary of Montserrat, also known as the "Black Madonna."

A tour to Mount Montserrat is not just about visiting the monastery and taking a funicular to enjoy the breathtaking views. Every day, you can listen to the boys' choir in the basilica, see early works by Degas and Picasso in the museum, and make a heartfelt wish by ascending to the Madonna. Some brave souls even engage in rock climbing, as the mountain is well-suited for this sport.

This day trip from Barcelona is one of the best ones! You get to explore the mountains part of Spain. The funicular and cable ride make the experience even better. You have also the option to hike to Montserrat if you are a hiking lover. Don't forget to visit the church and enjoy the view from up there!
