About

The Barcelona Zoo spans an entire 12 hectares of the Ciutadella Park and hosts over 7,500 animals belonging to 400 species. Its main goal is to provide its inhabitants with the best possible conditions that can rival their natural habitats.

The zoo's enclosures are located in a picturesque garden that recently celebrated its centennial. Here, many rare animals live in peaceful coexistence, from bottlenose dolphins or Sumatran tigers to the white gorilla and reptiles. There is also a special area for children that features domesticated and farm animals like the Iberian pig or Catalonian donkey, which are on the brink of extinction.
