火曜日の夜7時頃に訪れました。普段あまり奥まで入らない通りですが、Instagramで話題になっていたこのお店の「牛肉のカオソーイ」に惹かれて来てみました。運よく待たずに1階の席に案内されました。牛タンの「煮込み」と「焼き」から選べましたが、今回は煮込みをチョイス。これが大正解でした。すぐに運ばれてきたカオソーイは、臭みのないやわらかい牛タンがたっぷり入り、コクのあるスープと絶妙に絡んでとても美味しくいただけました。丼の中にはチャーシューのような薄切りの牛タン、そして別皿には角切りの牛タンも添えられていて、「追い牛タン」ができるのも嬉しいポイントです。スープはそれほど辛くなく、辛さは別皿の唐辛子ペーストで調整するスタイル。テーブルに調味料は置かれていません。マナオを絞ったあと手を拭きたくなりましたが、私のテーブルにはティッシュがなく、お願いして持ってきてもらいました笑隣に座っていた男前な東アジア系の外国人ゲストが「チキンカオソーイ」とオーダーしていたようですが、なかなか来なくて私が勝手にヤキモキして、しばらくして運ばれてきたのは牛肉のカオソーイ。「あれ？」と思いましたが私の聞き間違いかもと様子を伺っていると、写真を撮ったあとにチキンを注文したと店員に告げていました笑。スタッフは注文を復唱していたのに、オーダーが通っていなかったのかもしれません。店員の人数は多いのですが、注文は店員が紙に書く方式で、少しアナログな印象を受けました。お会計はテーブルで済ませるスタイルで、サービスチャージはありませんでした。細かい部分も印象的で、たとえばボトルウォーターのラベルが内側からカタカナで「カオソーイ」と書かれていたり、ロゴ入りの粘土製箸置きが使われていたりと、おしゃれな工夫が随所に見られます。内装は日本の老舗蕎麦屋を思わせるような和風デザインでとても雰囲気がありますが、流れているのは少し前のアメリカンポップス。おそらくこれはタイ人に刺さる演出なのでしょう。一点だけ気になったのは、テーブルがとても低いこと。汁気のあるカオソーイを食べるにはやや不便で、気を抜くとカレーうどんのように汁が跳ねます。白い服で行かれる方は、くれぐれもご注意を。

Excellent new find here in our neighborhood. I tried their drier stir fried khao soi noodles and they did not disappoint. It was on the spicier side, the way I love it. I'll be back soon for the soup version.
