I liked the atmosphere and the overall feel of the pub — it has a nice character and insight into a traditional setting. However, the food service was quite slow: our order took about 40–50 minutes to arrive, even though it was just a Thursday lunchtime. The pea & mint soup was amazing and full of flavour, but the fish and chips were a letdown — the fish was dry and the batter too oily.

Went to watch some live music lovely pub friendly chatty lads who were working behind the bar, great selection if beers including zero. Nice decor in perfect location.

8.8.25 second visit to the Shambles Tavern whilst visiting York. Food, delicious, atmosphere great, loved sitting outside. We were served by Freya today she did a fab job, extremely professional and very good at what she does. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
