Lovely place, but I wish there were signs throughout the park showing the name of the of the gardens. Very much needed

Cool city park managed by NPS that was formerly part of Dumbarton Oaks estate. It was designed by landscape architect Beatrix Farrand to be used in combination with formal gardens. Since I have visited the park before the formal gardens (separate entrance and admission fee), I couldn’t even guess that this secluded park can be viewed from upper gardens terrace. Multiple trails are criss-crossing the park. Stone bridge is one of the focal points of the park.

Really beautiful park! Very clean. The gardens were not open while we were there, so I will go back another time. I can't give 5 stars due to the fact that almost no dogs were leashed. There is a sign as you enter the property, but it seems that it is largely ignored. This makes the park a less welcome place to those who are not comfortable with dogs.
