About

The Goldoni Theatre is one of the leading and oldest opera houses in Venice, with a history that dates back to the Renaissance era. The building was constructed in the 1720s and went by various names before it was named after the famous playwright Carlo Goldoni in 1857. The theatre is a classic example of an 18th-century Italian building: the auditorium consists of four tiers of galleries and balconies, accommodating up to 800 people. On its 12-meter-wide stage, a variety of performances are put on, ranging from operas and serious dramatic plays to concerts, intermezzos, and children's productions.

The Goldoni Theatre stands as a symbol of Venice's theatrical life and is visited annually by many tourists from around the world.
