Tooting Bec Lido is one of those rare London spots that feels like an escape. The pool is massive – you can actually get proper lengths in without it feeling crowded – and the colourful changing huts along the side give it a bit of charm you don’t really get anywhere else. On a hot day it feels almost like being on holiday, with people stretched out on the grass and the water packed with swimmers of all levels. It’s unheated, so the water can be a shock at first, but once you’re in it’s refreshing and part of the appeal. The lifeguards are attentive, the place is well kept for how busy it gets, and the atmosphere is always lively but relaxed. It isn’t luxury, it’s character. If you’re looking for a clean, spacious outdoor pool with history behind it, this is one of the best places in London.

I do love Lido of Hillingdon. It was so nice and peaceful. There are always lifeguards. They were friendly and kind.

Pooks Together

Wonderful outdoor lido set in the greenery of Tooting Common. The changing rooms are nice and there is good space to sit and enjoy as well as the enormous unheated lido. The staff are really friendly and pleasant. There is a cafe onsite, however it is not cheap- would recommend bringing your own snacks as it can quickly add up for a group of people.
