Finalmente un vero Pub irlandese, fuori dal giro turistico incontrato per caso. La Guinnes più buona e più economica di tutte quelle provate dopo 5 tra Dublino e Cork. Peccato non ci si possa mangiare, altrimenti saremmo rimasti tutta la notte

Después de perderte un poco saliendo de la isla del centro de Cork. Recorriendo callejuelas encuentras este pequeño pub totalmente auténtico. Nada de lucecitas de colores. Bebida más barata de lo habitual por la zona y bien servida. Pintas de cerveza a menos de 5€.

A Night at The Shandon Arms In Cork by the Lee where the old bells chime, We wandered for pints and a grand old time. At Jack Forde’s pub, the locals cheer, And that’s where we ended, our nightcap’s here. Behind the bar stood Tommy, sound as a bell. Pouring the pints and spinning a tale. He grinned as he whispered, “Now don’t be silly, Ever tried a sweet called a Pennie Jelly?” We laughed ‘til the stools near shook with delight. Then Ryan walked in with a wink so bright. “Think you know stout?” said he with a grin, “Beamish, Murphy’s, Guinness, bet you can’t win!” Bill puffed his chest, said, “I’ll ace this test!” But Cork had a trick, and you know the rest. He guessed them all wrong. What a sorry sight. And bought every half-pint to make it right! We clinked our glasses. The craic was strong. Ryan and Nellie joined right along. Stories of Moher and the Wild Atlantic Way, And pubs where the fiddles and bodhráns play. Ryan gave tips in a voice so clear, “The Long Hall in Dublin, don’t miss it, dear! And the Butter Museum, sweet shops as well, Linehan’s treats will cast their spell.” So here’s our advice, if you roam this land, Seek The Shandon Arms, where the locals stand. And take the stout challenge, lose without fear. For when you do, buy the lads a beer! Sláinte!
