About

The Roman Catholic Church of St. Joseph in Torun stands out as a prime example of 20th-century sacral architecture. Its interior, adorned in warm colors, offers an inviting atmosphere that complements its unique altar depicting St. Joseph. Opened to the faithful on Christmas Eve in 1963, and consecrated on June 14, 1964, by Bishop Kazimierz Kowalski, the church was designed by architect Stefan Modrzejewski from Bydgoszcz and brought to life by engineer Edmund Płocki from Torun.

The church is accessible to persons with disabilities and features a beautiful moving Nativity scene, especially loved by the younger visitors. A stunning statue of St. Joseph, sculpted by Bronisław Chromy, takes center stage, while the side altar, designed by Witold Popławski, adds a distinct charm. Notable for its enjoyable homilies and the beautiful voice of the choir singer, the church offers a tranquil and uplifting environment.

From June to September 1997, the interior underwent renovation, including repainting and the restoration of the icon of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Visitors can also explore the chapel dedicated to St. Teresa, containing her relics, and the underground section featuring St. Clement's Hall, a missionary museum, pilgrimage facilities, and the Academic Ministry Room. The Church of St. Joseph is rated 4.5 on Google, reflecting its cherished status among locals and visitors alike.
