Historia tego parku sięga już 1721 roku, kiedy to na terenie dzisiejszego parku powstał cmentarz ewangelicki (dla żyjącej w tamtych czasach mniejszości francuskiej). W 1900 roku w miejscu zlikwidowanego cmentarza ewangelickiego i cmentarza miejskiego (Grabowskiego) powstał park. Jest drugim największym parkiem miejskim w Szczecinie. Na jego obszarze znajduje się kilka dzieł architektury oraz pomników przyrody.
