Die Ruine ist Stuttgarts Art zu sagen: „Schaut her, so sah Glanz aus – bis die Realität Feuer fing.“ Einst war es ein Prachtbau für Herzog Ludwig, gedacht zum Lustwandeln, Feiern und vermutlich für Dinge, die nicht in die Kirchenchronik gehören. Heute steht da nur noch ein dekoratives Trümmerstück im Schlossgarten – wie ein Möbelrest aus einer besonders dekadenten Vergangenheit. Man hat die Überbleibsel 1904 mit viel Liebe und wenig Zweck wieder aufgestellt. Kein Dach, keine Wände – aber genug Würde, um sich einzubilden, es sei immer noch ein Palast. Und wer weiß – vielleicht ist es das ja auch, für besonders fantasiebegabte Spaziergänger.
