About

Igrexa De Santo Agostiño - Xesuítas in Santiago de Compostela offers a captivating blend of Baroque and Neoclassical architecture from the 17th century. Visitors are drawn to its intricate side altars, a grand Baroque main altarpiece, and a large, impressive organ that beautifully complements the voice of its magnificent cantor. The church is a unique historical site with one tower remaining an unfinished testament to its past, while the other succumbed to a lightning strike. Now functioning as a university college managed by the Jesuits, the site warmly welcomes all visitors, ensuring ease of access with a wheelchair-friendly entrance.

Diese sehr schöne Kirche war in meinem Reiseführer nicht erwähnt. Der Hauptaltar ist prachtvoll.

A beautiful church close to the market in Santiago. We attended a mass for the feast of St Ignatius on 31st July. The organist and cantor were magnificent : a wonderful experience. Highly recommend. No tickets required.
