Amazing meatballs, toast, red sauce, sea bass, vodka martini, and dark chocolate tart. Very kind and engaging servers. Warm and inviting dining area and clean and comfortable restrooms. If you’re looking for a really, really good 100% gluten free restaurant, you’ve got to try this place.

Alice by Montesacro is an absolute gem. Transitioning to a gluten free kitchen while offering a robust menu leaving nothing to be desired has left me speechless. I was diagnosed with Celiac 19 years ago and since then, going out to restaurants has been filled with fear, disappointment, and embarrassment for the number of times our server has to run back to the kitchen to “check with the chef” on ingredients. Dining at Alice by Montesacro was the first time in 19 years that I’ve been able to look at a menu with the excitement of knowing I can have ANYTHING on the menu. EVERYTHING. This is the first time in 19 years that I don’t have to look for a key at the bottom of a menu (if I’m lucky) and pray that even though it’s marked “GF,” it miraculously doesn’t mingle with its gluten-traced countertops back in the kitchen before placed in front of me. This is the first time in 19 years where my first conversation with our waitstaff was not medical (“Is it a gluten-sensitivity or Celiac.”). My absolute least favorite way to start a dining experience! This is the first time in 19 years that I’ve taken longer than anyone at our table to decide what I wanted to order. (Since I now had more than 3 menu items to consider!) This is the first time in 19 years that I could simply relax and enjoy the absolute best plates of Italian cuisine that transported me back to being eight years old and able to eat all of my mom and aunties’ traditional, family recipes. I cannot possibly describe the freedom I felt dining here. It was a true gift. Enough about what Alice by Montesacro did for me personally since this is a restaurant review and not my personal diary. Here’s what we devoured: Best drink I’ve ever had. Hands down. The Caprese. Everyone at our table said, it smells like a beautiful fruit and vegetable garden. And it lived up to its smell! My husband had a martini with elderflower foam. Smoothe. Perfectly balanced. Now the food- Antipasti: Poplette Al Sugo (don’t tell my mom- these outranked hers as the best meatballs I’ve ever had.) Next we had the Supplì. Delicious! The smokiness of the mozzarella wrapped these little delights in an aroma that enhanced the flavor of the whole dish. We then moved on to Cacio a Pepe, (Alice’s excellent recommendation), Puttanesca (transported me back to time spent in Calabria), Margherita pizza (“Mom, I don’t want to finish it because I want to bring some to school tomorrow to share with friends.”) and the transcendent Branzini that left my husband baffled as to how that could this possibly have been accomplished so beautifully. And of course we finished off our experience with the dark chocolate tarte. The lightest flourless cake we’ve ever had. My husband is not a sweets guy and we had to fight him to get a few bites for ourselves. And we would have had more- a lot more. Next time! My non-celiac family members pride themselves on saying things like, “You wouldn’t even know this was gluten-free!” as a way of complimenting the ...

While my main was solid, the execution of the sides was a bit lack luster. The tomatoes in out panzanella were overly ripe and soft, the mouth feel wasn't good and the fried sardines were dry, even w the cheese inside. The service as good, friendly staff and things came quicky.
