A construção deste Palácio , situado no centro histórico de Salamanca , data do ano de 1538 e deve-se a Rodrigo de Messia , Senhor de La Guardia e grande proprietário , dono do monopólio de sal na cidade , donde deriva o nome do Palácio . Hoje , o edifício é a sede da " Diputacion Provincial de Salamanca .
