About

Escuelas Mayores in Salamanca stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of education and architectural grandeur. As part of the oldest university in the world, this historic site continues to captivate visitors with its Baroque Plateresque architecture. The complex was constructed between 1609 and 1611, featuring an inviting courtyard adorned with graceful arches and a compelling facade of the Escuelas Menores. Visitors can't miss the ornate facade of the historical Colegio Mayor building, embellished with a medallion paying homage to the Catholic Monarchs. Adding to its charm are intriguing legends, such as the elusive frog perched on a skull, which is said to bring luck to those who spot it. Another delightful quirk can be found in the New Cathedral next door, where keen eyes might catch sight of an astronaut and a dragon enjoying an ice-cream cone etched into the stonework. Enjoy the fascinating blend of history, legend, and artistry, all while benefiting from modern conveniences such as wheelchair accessibility. With a stellar reputation and a Google rating of 4.7, Escuelas Mayores is a historical attraction that effortlessly bridges the past with the present.

Parte de nuestra historia. Visita interesante. Pero por otra parte cobrar 10€ por visita no guiada. LAMENTABLE. Comparen el precio con el salario mínimo diario y saquen sus conclusiones. Yo no volveré.

También es un "must go" en Salamanca. Su importancia histórica y la búsqueda de la rana lo hacen muy divertido.
