I’ve never written a review for anywhere before, but I felt Bonaparte’s deserved one. I’ve never been to Rotterdam before but I found myself here because of a family matter My brother (who was in hospital and has lived here in Rotterdam for a few years) recommended that I come here because I was in the Netherlands alone. He was absolutely right. I came in on a Monday night and there were a few people in the bar. I’ve never felt more welcomed somewhere in my life. Even though I was struggling personally, they cheered me up so much. The bar owner/worker was there and they made me feel right at home. Being alone is a city is hard, but I’ve never felt more comfortable in a safe space for Queer people in my life. Everyone at the bar and behind the bar were so friendly and welcoming which made my experience a lot easier. I came back again the next night to hang out and even with different staff I was welcomed with open arms. I have never experienced somewhere to be so opening and understanding and I would’ve struggled a lot in Rotterdam if it wasn’t for this place. It’s a very safe place for people and the atmosphere proved that. I was there also at a different when the bar was very busy and the bar made me feel welcome at all times. I not only have no problem giving 5 stars to this place, I also give it a 10/10 for appearance, drink choices, bar staff and security. I want to add as well that the music is AMAZING!!!!! And the alcohol choices were amazing and they taught me a lot about different types of drinks. But it also creates a space where if you don’t drink alcohol, you’ll feel welcome and safe. I was so lucky to meet the owner of this bar a few times. He is amazing and his bar is a testament to him. He is so welcoming and he has staff who make sure of that. I was so lucky to meet him and all his staff. This place is a space for LGBTQ+ people and for people who need to find a comfortable space. These types of spaces are so important where they are visibly a Queer safe space. I hope to be back here again very soon when I visit Holland. I also hope that the owner and staff will visit me in Ireland as well!!🇮🇪🇳🇱
