About

The Chiesa del Gesù in Rome stands as a stunning example of Baroque architecture and is one of the city's most captivating places of worship. Located in the heart of Rome, this church is the mother church of the Society of Jesus, the order founded by Saint Ignatius of Loyola.

Inside, you'll find magnificent frescoes, including the masterwork by Giovanni Battista Gaulli, known as Il Baciccia. The spacious and luminous central nave is adorned with colorful marbles and gilded decorations.

A highlight of your visit will be the Chapel of Saint Ignatius. This emotional centerpiece features a splendid statue of Saint Ignatius, the Jesuit founder, surrounded by angels and ornate decorations. The chapel is a triumph of sculpture and artistry.

The High Altar is a gem of Baroque art, topped by a monumental altarpiece and flanked by twisted columns, exuding magnificence and devotion. The church is a treasure trove of Baroque art, with standout works like Gaulli's ceiling fresco and the tomb of Saint Ignatius by Andrea del Pozzo. Numerous frescoes and rich decorations make this place truly unique. Suitable for visitors of all ages, Chiesa del Gesù enjoys an impressive 4.8 rating on Google.

Very beautiful church with some descriptions available on the side, but if you’re there for the painting reveal/ baroque machine, it only happens on the weekend and at 6pm not 5.30 everyday as per social media.
