About

Stretching a whole 13 kilometers in length and extending beneath the Apennine Mountains, the Frasassi Caves have been a favorite spot not only for tourists but also for Rimini residents interested in speleology ever since their discovery in 1971. You can enter the cave via a man-made path that delves deep into the limestone hills. After passing through a short tunnel, visitors are greeted by a massive entrance that surpasses the size of a catholic cathedral. Travelers are also awaited by the encounter with the mysterious and still unexplored Ancona Abyss, guarded by a huge stalagmite aptly named "The Giant." Notably, the age of some mineral formations in the Frasassi Caves exceeds 150-200 thousand years.
