About

Riga locals know better than anyone that "bread is the head of everything" and methodically follow the old saying, dedicating a lot of effort and energy to the process of baking the most common type of flour product. The result of such labor is obvious - Laci bakery is always crowded and there's always a queue.

The unhurriedness and measured pace, for which Finns are so renowned, are to some extent characteristic of Latvians too. However, this rule applies only to bread, which is treated with no less respect here than Buddhists treat stray cows. Visitors to the Laci bakery can not only taste real bread from a wood-fired oven but also get hands-on experience in making it, using ancient recipes. By the way, these recipes were collected by the bakery's owners from all over Latvia and many of them are a unique "exhibit" that has been preserved through the centuries.
