Sumo Restaurant, tucked away deep in the Old Town, aims to introduce every visitor to the vast assortment of dishes from Japan's past and present.

Sumo Restaurant is divided into several large halls and a summer veranda. Here, the ancient rule by which a guest must feel as comfortable as possible is clearly observed. Every recipe in the establishment is a "manuscript" that is treated with reverence and respect, meticulously adhering to all details in preparation. Interestingly, every table in the restaurant is separated from prying eyes by a silk curtain. Sumo is often the site of major deals and business meetings, while local gourmets delight in the chef's new offerings.

Decent quality, though I have had better in worse countries (at a cost). Price is not far from what I'd expect to pay in most US markets but that put it a little above the local non-touristy places. Quiet and while the service wasn't bad it was just awkwardly reserved.
