Melnais Kakis cafe includes in its name a famous quote from the once-popular billiards bar in Riga, "Black Cat". The ideologists and creators of the cafe preferred not to stray from the billiard environment beloved by patrons and preserved the original interior with virtually no changes.

Melnais Kakis cafe is a truly intimate loft where chairs, tables, and a small stage for music performances are placed indecently close to one another. This setup, according to the owners, creates an intimate atmosphere conducive to conversation and increases appetite. By the way, even the strongest hunger can be satisfied here with homemade dishes, ranging from pork with vegetables to dumplings in wine sauce. Visitors can also play a game of darts or relax in a separate cigar room.

Great food and desserts. A little expensive than other local restaurants, but a good experience with a few surprises along the way.

The steak was overcooked, the mussels potentially dangerous (dead and live mixed and cooked in the same pot) and the dessert eaten on by insects. Walk past this one!!!
