About

The Odeon Theater was built in 1782 by the decree of Marie Antoinette. It became the first French theater to operate in the Italian style. During the French Revolution, the theater had to be closed, and after it ended, it was only reopened to become a political platform. This was followed by a series of renamings, a fire, and a complete reconstruction of the building. Ten years later, history repeated itself with another fire. In 1866, the famous actress Sarah Bernhardt made her debut on the theater's stage. In 1990, the institution was renamed to the Theater of Europe.
