About

d'Hiver Bouglione claims the title of the oldest circus. It traces its origins back to the mid-19th century. Originally, the circus building was designed to accommodate about six thousand spectators, but later the risk of fire forced its owners to halve the seating capacity. The facade of the building is adorned with beautiful classical bas-reliefs. Initially, the circus was named after Napoleon, as Napoleon III was the first to visit the new Parisian entertainment.
