This was our first time dining at Bono, and I really liked the concept they offer. We didn’t book a table in advance, so it was pure luck that we managed to get one for my family at the last minute. We arrived at the designated time and were warmly welcomed to our table. We opted for the set menu, which included two pasta dishes and one meat dish. First came the appetizer, followed by an Italian meat and cheese board. Everything was devoured quickly! Shortly after, the pasta dishes arrived, one at a time—just like in Italy. The first had a cheese- pesto-style sauce, which was very well-balanced. I often find pesto a bit overpowering, but this one was perfect. The pasta was fresh and cooked al dente. The second dish was ravioli in white sauce. It didn’t leave a strong impression, but it was certainly authentic. After the pasta came the meat dish. We had a red wine-stewed beef, but it was a bit too sour for my liking and had too many cloves in the seasoning. The accompanying mashed potatoes tasted a bit old, like they’d been made the day before. Despite the slightly disappointing secondi, I still recommend this restaurant. The friendly owners, a Norwegian-Italian couple with a lovely daughter, were wonderful. There was only one chef preparing all the food for the entire evening, so I didn’t mind the limited menu options.
