About

The "Privoz" Market is a special place, highly valued by the native residents. According to them, it is here that the unique Odessa flavor and distinctive dialect, blending Russian, Ukrainian, and Jewish languages, were born.

The market's somewhat unusual name, "Privoz", has quite a simple origin. In the past, imported goods were sold here directly from trucks and carts. After the revolutionary events, efforts were made to rename this trading area to "Oktyabrsky Market", a name more in line with the spirit of the times, but it did not last long.

Throughout its history, dating back to 1827, "Privoz" has always had a multitude of customers. Today, the market boasts around 2000 trading spots and 3000 registered sellers.

Although modern Odessa has many shops, supermarkets, and other trading venues, none of them can compete with "Privoz", which remains one of the city's brightest, most colorful, and recognizable landmarks.

Місцеві продавці торгують тут поколіннями, біля чурчхели та фруктів, на підлозі дійсно було трохи брудно. Всі хто продають, звикли що будуть торгуватись. Купила хамси на вагу, була дуже смачна.
