Dieses Filmtheater gehört - gerade nach der echt skandalösen Schließung des 113 Jahre alten Pendants am Sendlinger Tor (im Januar 2025) - zu den wenigen noch verbleibenden Kinojuwelen in München. Es befindet sich im Untergeschoss der Theatinerpassage, umfasst 164 Plätze & steht wegen seiner Originalausstattung im holzvertäfelten Stil der 50er Jahre unter Denkmalschutz. Seit der Eröffnung im August 1957 entwickelte es sich zum Symbol für cineastisches Entertainment der hochwertigsten Sorte, da vor allem Arthouse-Werke in der Originalsprache (französische, italienische, spanische etc. Filmkunst mit dt./engl. Untertitelung) zur Aufführung kommen, wofür es auch oft ausgezeichnet wurde. Ausserdem hat die junge Kinoleitung erst 2024 die komplette Technik erneuern lassen - das Theatiner ist also aktuell mehr denn je einen authentischen Kinotrip jenseits des Mainstreams wert. 🍫🥂🥸
