Siegestor is the Victory Gate built on the orders of King Ludwig I of Bavaria between 1842 and 1853. It was built to honor the Bavarian Army that fought in wars against liberation from Napoleon in 1813. The Siegestor was heavily damaged during WWII. The bronze statue of Bavaria riding a chariot pulled by Four Lions is a symbol of the Wittelsbach Dynasty. Really enjoyed our visit to this monument. It is very close to Munich University.
