2025 Parks

Buen Retiro Park is one of the most beloved recreational spots for city residents, featuring lush greenery spanning an area of one and a half square kilometers. Elegant sculptures and fountains, orderly rows of strawberry trees, and an artificial lake - this place was once used for meditation, which is where the park's "religious" name originates from.

Apart from the marble and granite statues and the green plantings, the park has many quaint cafes for tourists and children's playgrounds. Within the park's territory, there are also two museums - a branch of the famous Prado Museum and the Spanish Army Museum. Along the park's alleys, you can find three utterly unique fountains, one of which is dedicated to none other than the devil. Next to the fountain with the figure of a fallen angel, there is another monument depicting children with a dish of artichokes.
