The Crystal Palace in Madrid
About
The Crystal Palace is located in Retiro Park and is one of the most beautiful architectural landmarks in the entire capital. Originally, the palace, along with the artificial pond in front, was built as a temporary structure for a flower exhibition.
The "Crystal Shard," as the locals love to call it, is a three-tiered building with a stone façade, which is impressively complemented by snow-white columns, fully transparent walls, and an equally transparent roof. The Crystal Palace currently houses a winter garden, and a small garden has been laid out around the building, which is part of the park zone. Tourists often feed the tame squirrels that have made this place their home, along with several species of birds that have settled in the trees.

The Crystal Palace is an elegant glass and iron structure nestled within El Retiro Park. Inspired by London’s Crystal Palace, it often houses contemporary art exhibitions. Surrounded by a tranquil pond and lush gardens, it’s a peaceful retreat that blends art, architecture, and nature.
