About

The architecture of the Armenian Cathedral marvelously combines the traditions of Armenian sanctuary construction, Western European Romanesque-Gothic style, and the spirit of Ukrainian architecture. The construction of the temple began in 1343, making it one of the oldest in the city.

This creation by the Silesian architect Doring is distinguished by thick walls, one and a half meters in width, and a mesmerizing interior decor that creates a cozy and spiritual atmosphere within the temple. In the inner courtyard, a highlight of which is a 15th-century arcade with colonnades, ancient tombstones are kept, some of which are six hundred years old. The attention of visitors in the temple courtyard is also drawn to an 18th-century wooden carved chapel, which houses an altar known for its depiction of Christ's Passion on Golgotha.
