I visited on a quiet week day lunchtime and found the food to be excellent, I can recommend the crab 🦀 with blinis & black caviar, the lobster bisque Tom Yum 🦞🍅 soup and the salmon 🐟 with any of the side dishes. I'm also pleased that they could make me a fresh mint or fresh ginger tea 🍵 as a special request. The general ambience of the restaurant and hotel is delightful and staff are pleasantly friendly.

Das Savoy ist eines der schillernsten Hotels in London. Mit einer Mischung aus Spannung und ein wenig Bedenken ob meines legeren outfits betrat ich die Lobby. Ja,...es ist wirklich ein Grand Hotel wie man es sich vorstellt! Durch die beeindruckende Lobby gelangte ich dann zum Restaurant. Ich fragte die freundliche Dame am Empfang, ob denn heute Abend noch ein Tisch für eine Person frei wäre. Sie strahlte mich an, und fragte nur "Now?" In Jeans und Sneakers, dafür ohne Krawatte, folgte ich ihr zum Tisch. Nicht irgendwo in einer Ecke, sondern mitten im Geschehen zwischen gut betuchten Stammgästen. Der Service war professionell, am Anfang vielleicht etwas steif, taute aber im Laufe des Abends zusehens auf. Gleich vorneweg: ein billiges Vergnügen ist es keineswegs! Grundsätzlich ist die Qualität der Speisen und Getränke auf höchstem Niveau. Ich möchte jedoch noch ein, zwei Punkte ansprechen, bei denen noch Potential besteht. Die Beilagen, bzw. die Auswahl derselben könnte dem Anspruch des Hauses entsprechend etwas exclusiver sein. Ok...ich mag Pommes, aber in so einem Retsaurant würde ich sie nicht unbedingt ganz oben auf der Beilagenliste erwarten. Der Service war zwar professionell, aber z.B. beim Wein fehlte die zeitliche Abstimmung zum Hauptgang. Ich hatte bereits meine Entenbrust, aber bzgl. Wein musste ich nochmals nachfragen. Zugegeben, es ist Jammern auf hohem Niveau, aber Anspruch und Preise sind dementsprechend. Den krönenden Abschluß bildete das Desert. Ein Traum! Die Kellnerin hatte meinen Geschmack nicht nur beim Wein sondern auch bei der Desertempfehlung perfekt getroffen! Zusammenfassend kann man sagen, dass ein Abendessen im Savoy ein besonderes Erlebnis ist, welches man sich nicht nur aus Gründen der zu erwartenden Rechnung für besondere Gelegenheiten aufsparen sollte. Die oben genannten kleinen Mängel kosten bei Yelp leider den fünften Stern. Trotzdem gerne wieder !
