I understand that you give opportunities to people who might not have support elsewhere, and I really respect that. However, it is also your responsibility as a business to train them properly—both in how to dress appropriately for the role and, most importantly, how to treat customers with courtesy. As a regular customer for more than a year, I was extremely disappointed by the behavior of the staff member at the front during my visit in this mornig. From the moment I walked in, he seemed completely uninterested—no greeting, no smile, just a blunt: “What do you want?” To be honest, my first reaction was to leave the shop immediately. The only reason I stayed was because I had run out of coffee at home, and I always buy The Yard coffee here every week. For a place I’ve supported consistently, this experience was a very unpleasant surprise.

The coffee was very good, though a little on the pricey side, and the toasties were absolutely outstanding—some of the best I’ve ever had, with truly amazing flavours. The staff weren’t especially warm, but the dishes more than made up for it. The atmosphere could be more comfortable, yet overall it’s still well worth visiting for the incredible food and great coffee
