This “little gem” is one of the best 'New Finds' in a long time. :) We'd been on the Arsenal Legend Tour at the Emirates stadium and found ourselves with time to kill before a Movie at the BFI IMAX. We Googled "Asian Restaurants near me" and Po-Po came up within easy walking distance. It was receiving very good reviews from contributors with more than just 1or 2 reviews, which is always suspicious, and an increasingly common occurrence. From the exterior one could be forgiven to thinking that Po Po is just a scruffy take away with, delivery agents in and out almost continuously. But DON'T be misled by first impressions, this little sushi bar is a class act! We were met and seated by the one waitress who was frantically busy with online orders, but who found time to make us feel welcome and cared for. There was another couple dining in (there is only a handful of tables) and their food looked fantastic as it arrived. So, I politely asked them which dishes they had ordered, and they were happy to tell me, adding that they normally order for home delivery and that the food is always great. We ordered a selection dishes, some of which our neighbouring table had recommended; we were far from disappointed. The food arrived as it was prepared rather than all at once which is great with Asian food as we were sharing all the dishes. The food also arrived quickly, despite all being prepared from scratch by the three chefs, two of whom were preparing sushi and other cold dishes while one chef was concerned with cooked food. The prawn tempura was perfect; it’s always best straight from the fryer which was the case at Po Po. I suspect the delivery option would not be quite as crisp unless delivered by Superman (who we sent to see at the IMAX). The chicken gyoza was equally crisp and tasty. On advice from our neighbouring table, we ordered the seabass carpaccio, and the crunchy dragon rolls, both of which were also excellent. To finish, we ordered a portion of salmon and tuna sashimi; again, they were generous and delicious. Don’t expect a great selection of wine else you’ll be disappointed. We were happy with an Asahi beer each. The total bill, with no added service came to 70 quid. This is not cheap but we both came away feeling that we’d had excellent value and terrific food and service. The waitress was surprised and delighted to receive a tip in cash, a habit which we’ve adopted everywhere when paying by NFC phone-tap. We’ll most certainly be back to this super little sushi bar the next time we’re at an Arsenal home game. We have no hesitation in giving Po Po a well-deserved 5-star review. (Again, I mention that food photos rarely do the platter justice, but I’ve included mine in for the record of a great experience)
