Excellent service and great tasting food. Chef has creatively combined locally available ingredients to elevate the experience, while still retaining key elements of Japanese cuisine.

NIJŪ in Mayfair is a serious operation built around katei ryōri, with sharing dishes alongside sushi and charcoal grilled Japanese beef. The room is slick, one of the best light design I've seen in a restaurant, there’s a small sushi counter, and the Nipperkin bar sits downstairs. My take is mixed. The food and course flow were top notch and technically tight, but it doesn’t make my top five japanese spots in London. Service hurt the experience: our female server was so stiff it made the meal feel tense. Everything else was proper, so I’ll try again on another night and see if it lands differently. If you go, expect a polished kitchen, a sharing led menu, and a setting that fits Mayfair.

Nothing wrong about the experience. It was Wednesday night, so there was only 2 more tables, not much ambience. The food generally was good but nothing remarkable. Nigiri selection good quality of ingredients but that’s it, zero temperature on the rice. The chicken katsu it’s absolutely huge and ibérico por chop it’s anything but ibérico. Good quality of pork, nice sauce but that’s it. Prices are high, 9 nigiri’s the chicken and pork and water only 180 pounds
