In the 20 or more years I've been coming here, this place is a consistent. Like most Londoners, I've moved further and further out of the big smoke but when my route takes me anywhere near Stokey, I make sure I make time for a Beyti! Ok the old guy may no longer make the handmade doner anymore but what comes out of their Mangal, is always fresh and tasty. Being next door to a Turkish butchers probably helps. You don't come here for the décor, you certainly don't come here for the ambience or lack thereof....you come here for some bangin' grilled meat and fish at reasonable prices. You can't go wrong with Beyti!

This is one of the original Ocakbasi restaurants in north London- I’ve been here every now and again for the last 25-35 years, and it has barely changed a bit. And that’s good. The food is simple, with few frills. The grill is central to the layout (classic Ocakbasi) and means you can see your food being cooked as you make your way through your starter. Go for lunch and if you stay long enough you’ll see them prepping the aubergines for the evening’s meals, grilling them on the embers of the charcoal they just used to prepare your food. I love it here, more for the nostalgia than anything else. Prices are average, portions too.
