A longstanding café on Northcote has recently expanded to offer a full menu. It’s in a great corner spot with plenty of outdoor seating that gets the afternoon sun. Unfortunately, the food doesn’t match the appeal of the location. I ordered the carbonara, which arrived with an unappetising orange hue. The pasta was cooked well, but the flavour was off — disappointing for such a simple, classic dish. My wife had the salmon Caesar salad, which was nicely presented but again lacked flavour. It’s a shame, as the restaurant has all the right ingredients to be a success. I hope they take charge of the kitchen, because the potential is certainly there.
