🚇 Stoke Newington 🍺 £5.00 Carlsberg ❤️ A superb backstreet traditional pub. . The Wheatsheaf is tucked away in a residential side street where Stoke Newington meets Stamford Hill. The nearest station is Stoke Newington which is just around the corner. . This pub was built in 1911 by Watney Combe Reid. This was originally a two bar pub with the public bar on the left and the saloon on the right. Like most pubs these days this is now a one bar pub. . This is a compact and cosy Irish pub with a central island servery at its core. The decor here is traditional, tasteful and has grey wall panelling and a mix of painted and wallpapered walls. Around the walls are paintings and prints which add a splash of colour to the neutral theme. There are a few screens dotted around the bar that show live sports, there is also a pool table and jukebox if you want to play some tunes. . The beer selection was a no nonsense line up that is popular with the regulars. I decided on a pint of Carlsberg, my pint was well kept and good value at a fiver. The pub doesn’t do food but there is every flavour of Tayto’s available if you need some sustenance. . We arrived late afternoon on St Patrick’s Day, the pub was packed and in full swing. The atmosphere was lively, upbeat and the pub had a lovely local feel to it. This boozer was kitted out for the day with flags, bunting and an Irish buffet for the everyone to enjoy. We were served by the Landlady who was busy making sure everyone was being served, lovely lady. Apart from the celebrations that day, the pub has live music throughout the month and as mentioned earlier shows live premiere league action. . I absolutely loved in here, prior to visiting I heard or read very little about this hidden gem’s existence. This traditional family run pub has that local pub vibe and a cosy feel to it. The welcome was great and the pump prices won’t break the bank. Get this one on your list folks. ☘️ . ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 17.03.23 More London Pub info @londonpubmap 🍻
