🚇 Colliers Wood 🍺 £3.85 Carlsberg This pub is located in Colliers Wood, Southwest London. The nearest Tube is Colliers Wood, which is just across the road. This pub was originally built in 1881 and was once a Charrington’s house. It was rebuilt during the interwar years, which saw the addition of a striking ‘Royal Standard’ crest above the right-hand side entrance. The decor is traditional with a bright, homely feel. A central mahogany servery dominates the bar area, with a carpeted area to the left with tables, chairs, and a drinking ledge. In front of the bar there’s a narrow strip with stools if you fancy propping up the bar, while the right-hand side is more spacious, with plenty of seating and a snug tucked into the corner. The green and cream walls are decorated with a mix of prints, promos, and classic Guinness signage. There are a few TVs showing sport, a jukebox, and some fruit machines. Out back is a tidy partially covered beer garden with heaters, and there’s also seating out front. The whole pub was immaculately clean. The beer selection was a familiar line-up of keg favourites, plus one cask ale. I kept it simple and went for a Carlsberg — my pint was excellent and cost less than four quid! This is a wet-led pub, so no food is served, but there’s a variety of bar snacks if you’re peckish. We arrived at 11am on an overcast and humid Saturday morning in June. There were a few punters in attendance, a couple sat on the left and three locals sat in the beer garden. The atmosphere was welcoming, so we pulled up a couple of stools to enjoy our pints. We were served by a lovely friendly Lady who was chatting to us about the pub and some other London pubs she has worked at. This was the first pub we visited on our Colliers Wood crawl, and we loved it so much we could’ve stayed all day. You can tell there’s a lot of love put into this place — from the colourful exterior and well-kept interior to the regular entertainment and sensibly priced pints. This is a terrific pub, a must-visit if you’re in the area.
