In the best way possible- a total dive, genuinely nostalgic for anyone who misses the old English institution of the pub. I grew up in pubs just like this, and worried I wouldn’t be able to find somewhere like this in London, but here it is, and it’s glorious. Full of wonderful old boys who stay all day to watch the football, featuring a cat and a dog who live at the pub, pool table, enclosed back area for smoking. The barlady takes really good care of everyone!

I visited here on Saturday night with my friends before we made our way to a nearby nightclub (MOT). When we walked in, it felt like we had travelled back 40 years in time - the decor was dated and the atmosphere was very much of a local, no frills pub. The bartender - a friendly Londoner with down to earth charm and banter, joked with us about the age of the carpet and made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed two, good-value rounds in the quiet environment and struck up conversations with a few of the locals. My friends and I really enjoyed the experience - we got a taste of real community and local London compared with 'trendy' often characterless pubs. Would definitely return if we're in the area again - especially to be served by our bartender friend.
