Brilliant old east end pub full of locals who were welcoming. Staff were really helpful and thoughtful to bring us all extra ice to our table. Very busy on Saturdays due to market.

🚇 Bow Road 🍺 £4.85 Cruzcampo The Albert is located at the entrance to historic Roman Road Market, Bow in the East End of London. The nearest Tube is Bow Road, Mile End Tube is a similar distance. This pub was originally built in 1870 and started life as The Prince Albert. The pub was rebuilt in the 1930’s, in 1980’s the pub’s name was shortened to The Albert. This is a traditionally decorated one bar pub that was refurbished back in 2020. The servery is located on the left hand side with the bar area wrapping around it. The decor consists of a mixture of seating, wall panelling with wallpaper above, a dartboard, a few large screens and a proper pub carpet. The beer line up is all keg and offers a good selection of well known brews. I decided on a Cruzcampo, my pint was great, price was reasonable at under a fiver. This is a wet-led pub that doesn’t serve food, @gkellylondon is across the road if you fancy some good old Pie & Mash. I arrived bang on opening at 11am, I heard the Saturday lunchtime session gets very busy, so I arrived early doors. Soon after I arrived, the pub started filling up with local punters who seemed to favour a pint John Smith’s. The atmosphere was laidback, the Tv’s were showing Sky Sports on mute whilst an 80’s soundtrack played in the background. The service was friendly, the chap who served me was welcoming and courteous. The pub shows live Premier League and hosts regular Karaoke nights. @thealbertbow is a fantastic locals boozer, it’s one of the last bastions of old East End culture left in Bow. The location next to the market makes for an atmospheric location, the ambiance makes it easy to settle in, the beer is reasonably priced and the welcome is warm. Definitely worth a look if you’re in the area. 📅 15th February 2025 More London pub info @londonpubmap 🍻
