We were very impressed when we stayed at The Spread Eagle last night. The room was stylish and the furnishings good quality. Breakfast was delicious too. Extremely good value for money.

I really haven't had much luck with youngs hotels lately. Second time I stayed here. I had the big rooms with the bathtub. First time was fine, this time not so much. On the website it says book direct for extra benefits such as 1pm check out. We've stayed in youngs hotels in the area many times and we check out at 1pm. This time, at 11.50am, house keeping was knocking. I went to the door and they'd gone. I packed up and went down to reception and asked what happened to 1pm check out? I was told that is subject to availability...I wasn't told any different on check in. The other issue was the tap in the bathroom sink isn't attached to the sink by anything but the water pipe...it just moves around...and the hot tap was completely seized. I reported this as well. Obviously someone was aware of this problem, the cleaners would use the tap to clean the sink???..The lady on reception said sorry about these issues, we'll see what we can do next time...the problem was this time..its a bit aggravating when you have a negative experience and you're basically told, come spend money here again and maybe we'll get it right. I said I wouldn't be returning, I'll go back to the brewers pub up the road. (Which I did this week and had issues there too with housekeeping knocking on the door at 10.30am) She seemed surprised by this...i explained that you expect consistency and at the very least, hot water in the bathroom...

Definitely the place to go if you want to try the traditional beers in this part of London (Youngs Original/Ordinary and Youngs Special). They’re no longer made across the road, sadly, but are still kept very well here. The decor is also great – can’t comment on the food or rooms.
