About

Vladimirska Hill Park is one of the most famous recreational areas in Kyiv. It is located on the upper and middle terraces of the Mikhailovskaya Hill and covers an area of 10.6 hectares. The park was established in the middle of the nineteenth century. Its history begins in 1108 when the Mikhailovsky Monastery was built here. The hill was under its ownership, and at that time, the area also hosted wooden buildings and vineyards. Back then, Vladimirska Hill was bare, with practically no trees growing on it. It was only between 1830 and 1840 that trees began to be gradually planted on its slopes. Over time, the park was formed. Its main attraction is the monument to Prince Vladimir - the Baptizer of Rus'. Besides the monument, the recreation area also features other sculptures created by Kyiv artisans in the 80s and 90s.
