Büyük Mecidiye Mosque in Istanbul
About
Büyük Mecidiye Mosque, designed by Nigoğayos and Garabet Balyan, stands as a Baroque Revival jewel in Istanbul since its opening in 1856. Nestled on the banks of the Bosphorus in Ortakoy, this attraction boasts a cozy, intimate atmosphere with dazzling, low-hanging crystal chandeliers and natural lighting. Noteworthy for its peaceful vibe and meticulously crafted Ottoman Baroque architecture, it shares design nuances with the Dolmabahçe Palace.
Situated near the iconic first Bosphorus Bridge, it offers not just architectural splendor but also scenic views and a taste of local culture with nearby Baked Potato vendors. The women's section is a special feature that adds to its inclusive and serene environment. Rated 4.8 on Google, this mosque is a must-visit for enthusiasts of architecture and tranquil settings. Well worth the trip for both its spiritual and aesthetic appeal.

Cami, Sultan Abdülmecid tarafından Mimar Nigoğos Balyan’a 1853 yılında yaptırılmıştır.
