Museossa on yllättävän vähän tavaraa. Varsinkin yläkerta on paljolti informatiivista, mutta tylsänpuoleista tekstiä. Kansallismuseon 138000 esineen kokoelmasta riittäisi tänne hyvin muutama sata esinettä. Suomenlinnan museon henkilökunta voisi käydä Turun linnassa katsomassa, miten kootaan kiinnostava kokonaisuus. Upean Suomenlinnan kanssa museo ei pärjää.
