Realizado en 1892 por el artista valenciano Mariano Benllure para conmemorar el cuarto centenario del descubrimiento de América. Cerca están la iglesia del Convento de las Carmelitas Descalzas o Monasterio de San José fundado en 1582, que se halla en la Plaza de San Juan de la Cruz. Bonito paseo por granada y en día caluroso, se agradece el sonido y frescor del agua.

Es una plaza muy bonita donde se puede apreciar perfecto ángulo uno de los lugares más bonitos de Granada, además de emblemáticos... Recomiendo visitarla de día y de noche, pues, son dos plazas totalmente distintas con una belleza muy singular cada una☺️
