This was our first time at Restaurant Gillis and it blew us away. We came down from Amsterdam after reading about the restaurant. The service was very friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable. The wine list is extensive and gave us ample choice to make a match with our dinner. The food was out of this world. We started out with the beef tartar (with caviar and truffle) and bork belly. I had both dishes at other places, but the flavour on these was next level. For mains we all had our own choice of steak. I went with a dry-aged entrecôte which tasted like nothing I had before. We rounded off sight some nice desserts, coffee and some dessert-wine. It was an amazing experience, I would definitely recommend meat-lovers to come to this place. Our thanks to the staff for this wonderful experience! We’ll be coming back for sure!

Een absolute aanrader voor vleesliefhebbers! Restaurant Gillis in het hart van Gent combineert vakmanschap, sfeer en kwaliteit op een manier die je niet vaak tegenkomt. Vanaf het moment dat je binnenstapt, voel je de passie voor vlees en gastvrijheid. De kaart is overzichtelijk maar doordacht, met voor elk wat wils: van sappige ribeye tot perfect gegrilde côte à l’os. Wij kozen voor de dry-aged entrecote, beide waren perfect gegaard, mooi gepresenteerd en boordevol smaak. Je merkt meteen dat hier gewerkt wordt met topkwaliteit vlees en vakkennis in de keuken. Ook de bijgerechten zijn geen bijzaak: de huisgemaakte frietjes, frisse sla en de geroosterde groenten tillen het geheel naar een hoger niveau. De bediening was vlot, vriendelijk en attent, zonder opdringerig te zijn – precies zoals het hoort. De setting is stijlvol zonder stijf te zijn: warm hout, open keuken en een gezellige sfeer die zowel past voor een romantisch diner als een avond met vrienden. Gillis is niet goedkoop, maar elke euro waard. Wie écht goed vlees wil proeven in Gent, mag dit adres niet missen. Wij komen zeker terug.
