About

Mehlwassersalz in Innenstadt I, Frankfurt am Main, is a fashionably casual cafe-bakery for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. Expect super-friendly, quick service and quite good coffee. The menu spans omelettes, ricotta toasts, small plates, and desserts, with vegan, vegetarian, and healthy options; tea lovers are covered too. The bakery is the star-don't miss the almond (Mandel) croissant. Dine in or sit outdoors, or grab a takeaway; reservations are available and often recommended as it's popular with tourists. Prices are easy on the wallet at €10-20 per person. The space isn't the coziest, but comfortable for solo stops or casual meet-ups, and there's a toilet on site. Rated 4.3 on Google.

The coffee is quite good. Food and the self baked bread is a must have for dine-in or to go. I am wondering whether the espresso cups are for sale as well.

I'm having a bit of trouble giving as fair a review as possible. The food was excellent, the service very friendly and attentive, but... ...the cappuccino was not 'overly large,' and I had some doubts about the 'freshly squeezed orange juice' as to its origin (but maybe I'm doing them an injustice). The retro 80s 'disco' chairs on the terrace were uncomfortably 40 years ago and remain so ever since. With a total price of €23 for omelette, coffee, and juice, I've left with a lightly ambivalent feeling.
