The Basilica di Santa Maria Novella in Florence is an absolute gem boasting an impressive blend of Renaissance, Gothic, Romanesque, and Classical architecture. Designed by renowned architects like Leon Battista Alberti and Filippo Brunelleschi, this historical building has been inspiring visitors since it opened in 1360. A short 5-minute walk from the train station, it's extremely convenient to include in your travel itinerary.

The interior is a marvel, adorned with amazing stained glass designs and chapels contributed by wealthy families. The cloister, garden, and even a historic 'pharmacy' add layers of intrigue to your visit. The museum, part of the old convent, features stunning fresco paintings from Paolo Uccello and other masterpieces including a crucifix by Giotto.

A visit typically lasts between 1-2 hours, and at just 7.50 euros, it's affordable and family-friendly. Magnifique basilic, certainnement l'une des plus belles. L'entrée est gratuite mais la montée de la coupole et le musée archéologique sont payant.
