As a patron since 2019, I have seen the ebbs and flows of Eat The Bird as an independent restaurant aiming for franchising onto the wider nation. As someone who once ordered 2-3 times weekly when the Exeter branch first came into fruition, has signed up to a multitude of various loyalty schemes with ETB over the years, and even bought their merchandise, I must confess that Eat The Bird has very disappointingly dropped their standards in food and service. Where once I found the customer service interpersonal and friendly, with getting to know me on a first name basis due to my loyalty to the business, this has now died. The last handful of times I have gone, the front of house staff do not seem in the slightest bit interested in providing an adequate service, but rather point you in the direction of the menu and QR code to pay, with minimal to no interaction between. Even if this isn’t a focal point for some people, the food certainly will be. What baffles me is why did they amend a perfected recipe for chicken and seitan to salt haven I will not know. On one occasion, I fed back to the less than interested staff member that I found the food too salty, which they fairly fed-back to the kitchen, consequently to which the overheard response was that they were playing the worlds smallest violin. If this is how you intend to react to feedback from now onwards, I do not intend on returning. Hearing the sad news that the original Taunton branch has had to shut down, I hope that you sort yourselves out before it’s too late. Edit: Just reread the article and it seems all of the branches have shut down and the business has gone into liquidation. A real shame.

Amazing food, 100% recommend Eat the bird. Burgers were very tasty and the chips were awesome too. Reason for a 4 star review was our waiter wasn't the most helpful, didn't seem like he wanted to be there or particularly help us. Hopefully just a bad day so don't let this put you off, the food was brilliant!
