Went here last night as I saw they had oysters on the menu which I love and a good wine selection. We sat outside and immediately got water brought to us and a menu. We ordered some of the oysters and the octopus skewers and got some great advice on wine choices from Amber. The drinks came quickly but the food took a bit longer, which really fits with the lovely relaxed vibe of the place. When they did arrive, the oysters (which came with strawberry or Pedro Ximenez mignonette) were huge, plump and meaty and absolutely delicious. We ordered 4 more. Our other server was Martha who was the perfect balance of attentive with water top ups and plates cleared but not at all intrusive. We ordered more food, the cod special and the lamb merguez, both delicious and then the steak tartar with a glass of the rioja which just finished off the meal perfectly. I really cannot recommend this place enough for a relaxed drink after work, a leisurely lunch or an evening treat. Being in Spinningfields you are away from the traffic although you can hear Oast House round the corner and there is an automatic shutter close by that sounds like the shower scene from psycho (you'll know when you hear it) but the ambiance, the quality of the food and drink and the staff more than make up for those small points. I found out as we were leaving that it was Martha's first shift which was very surprising as she was excellent, and had great knowledge of the menu and the drinks. Her and Amber were a joy and we will be back soon to try more oysters and the rest of the menu.
